2005 Summer – New Haven, Connecticut: English Study Tour

Yale University

Participants in Yale’s comprehensive language program are assigned to classes based on a placement test, student essays, and background information. During the program, students further develop their reading and vocabulary skills, hone in on their speaking and listening skills and cultivate their expository writing skills. Students can also choose one or two afternoon courses, some of which include American Film Workshop, Poetry Workshop, Drama Workshop, Preparation for TOEFL, Video Production Workshop, Fiction Writing Workshop, and New York City Workshop.

2005 Summer – Washington, D.C.: English Study Tour

Georgetown University

This three-week summer program has attracted students from around the world to come to Georgetown to enjoy themselves in Washington, D.C. while building fluency and accuracy in spoken English. The focus of the course is not only to develop students’ speaking and listening skills, but also to meet and interact with international students from around the world. In the morning, students meet in core classes to practice speaking and listening to conversational English with other students at their same level. In the afternoons, students select from a wide range of elective classes. Extracurricular activities, such as field trips and social gatherings, are included to help students practice their language skills, explore Washington, D.C., and interact with other students.

2005 Summer – Boston, Massachusetts: English Study Tour

The English Today Program at Tufts University is designed for individuals who desire a combination of classes and activities to make the most of their summer in Boston. Students can choose from a variety of electives and workshops such as Current Events, American Idioms and Culture, History and Culture of Boston, TOEFL Preparation and University Preparation.

2005 Summer – Boston, Massachusetts: English Study Tour

Foundations in English Language and Culture at Boston University will help you develop the skills, fluency and confidence you need to communicate effectively in English. You will improve your overall abilities in both spoken and written English, as well as your understanding of US culture. After completing your program, you will be better prepared to use English at work, in school, or among international friends. There are frequent social and cultural activities, which include pizza parties, book clubs, soccer games, cultural discussion groups, and trips in and around Boston.

2005 Summer – Davis, California: English Study Tour

University of California, Davis

The Communication and Culture at UC Davis is a comprehensive, four-week program with 80 hours of instruction. It is ideal for participants who want an intensive learning experience in a short time frame. The focus is on American culture and conversational fluency with an emphasis on vocabulary building, speaking and listening skills.

2005 Summer – Los Angeles, California: English Study Tour

University of Southern California

USC’s English-teaching approach is designed to help you develop the academic English skills you need for the university classroom as well as the practical English you need for real-life situations. All courses are interactive, requiring you to practice English in many different circumstances. Your courses focus on academic reading and writing as well as listening, speaking, and pronunciation.

2005 Summer – Vancouver, British Columbia: English Study Tour

Hawthorn - Vancouver

Hawthorn – Vancouver is a member of the Hawthorn English Language Centers Network and is one of the oldest private English language centers in Vancouver. Hawthorn – Vancouver offers a range of General English, Business English, Examination Preparation and Youth Programs. The campus is located in a modern building in the center of the city near public transportation and many shopping sites.
