ISCE’s Teach & Travel Program offers native English speakers the opportunity to teach English in China and/or Taiwan during the summer vacation months. This is the perfect opportunity for those who are interested in traveling in the Greater China region while interacting with enthusiastic, local English-learning students. Participants will gain valuable experience teaching practical English to local students in a summer camp environment. Knowledge of Chinese and prior teaching experience are not required, but applicants must be native English speakers.
Costs in addition to the program fee are minimal since meals, travel, and accommodations are provided. As this is a volunteer position, participants will not be paid a monetary salary. Included in the program fee is round-trip airfare from San Francisco International Airport to the teaching destination, a mandatory one-to two-day training session and orientation where all teaching materials will be provided, room and board, and a bonus trip to either Hong Kong, Shanghai or Beijing.
In addition to our summer program, ISCE also offers ESL teacher placement services to native English speakers. Generally, participants in this program have had prior experience teaching English to speakers of other languages. Teachers will be paid a competitive  monthly salary from elementary, junior high or senior high schools in Taiwan or China. These schools have been carefully screened by ISCE to ensure that they are comfortable working environments, as well as reputable and professional schools.
